Gippsland Field Day - Steer Trial

This trial is based on a pair of steers of the same breed. Weight gain over a 6 month period and carcass measurements are used.

2012/2013

Awards Night Gippsland Field Day Steer Trial 2012/2013Tesbury pair of steers won two best carcasses in the second turn off and the highest weight gain (to be confirmed) .

Noorat Show - Carcass Competition

2013

Reserve champion in the Noorat carcass comp with a pure South Devon steer fed only on grass 1/2 a point off champion. This steer was sired by Tesbury Elwood who is again proving himself as a sire throwing excellent carcass traits.

2011

Entered three 15 month old South Devon Angus cross steers, both weighing 470 kg in Class Three [456-550 kg ].  We placed 2nd and 3rd.

Class One, [260-370 kg] we entered a 8 month old steer weighing 340kg.  He placed 3rd.

We were very pleased to receive these placing in a very high standard competition

Bendigo National - Steer Trial

2010

Tesbury Tony Champion Carcass 2009 Bendigo Steer TrialWe entered three 12 month old steers sired by Glenstrae Erskine : 2 prepared by Glenorminston Colledge and 1 prepared by us.

Class winner on the hoof and hook with a pure South Devon steer sired by Glenstrae Erskine.

This steer was a South Devon Angus cross that was prepared by the Finely high school.

 

 

 

 

Melbourne Show - Borthwick Trophy


The Borthwick Trophy carcass competition is based on the average of 3 pure steers of  the same breed.   Points for the
trophy are gained in the live judging as well as on the hook.

  • 7 South Devon steers were entered into the Melbourne Show Carcass competition.
  • 3 from Tesbury stud were prepared and presented by students at Glem Ormiston College (this is the third year they have done this). The highest score was 87.9 points.


Feedback from handlers was consistent with the cattle being quiet and easy to handle.
